Scouting Joshua Tree National Park - StarDude Astronomy

This event was different from my usual events in that I had the honor of being invited by a local Cub Scout pack (Den 9, Pack 766) to join them on a camping trip up to Joshua Tree National Park and be their guide to the night sky! I was more than happy to accept.
About midafternoon on Friday, 4/17, the group met up and headed out on our journey up Palomar Mountain to the Observatory Campground. Upon arrival, we set up our tents and camping gear. Batteries are all charged, all SD cards are empty, cooler is full of goodies and B.O.B. (my Honda Element - Big Orange Beast) is full of gas for tomorrow's excursion to the Mt. Palomar Observatory Campground!

The actual sizes of various different deep space objects. If they were brighter, this is how they would appear in our night sky. The images are in scale with one another, including the Moon, but not to the Milky Way background.
Since January of this year, I have been hosting Full Moon viewing and photography events. They have all been very fun and allowed me the chance to meet some awesome people and share with them some astronomy knowledge, photography knowledge and the chance to take some up close images of the full moon through my Stellarvue SV105 Telescope.
